2. What Data We Collect

  • Profile photo (if you choose to add one)
  • Posts, captions, images, and videos you upload
  • Comments and likes on posts
  • Private messages between users
  • Stories you create
  • Follow relationships with other users

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the DesiChal platform
  • To allow you to connect with other users
  • To display your profile and posts to other users
  • To send you notifications about activity on your content
  • To improve the app and fix issues

4. Legal Basis (UK GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of:

  • Contract — to provide you with the service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — to improve the platform and ensure safety
  • Consent — where you have explicitly agreed (e.g. optional features)

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your posts and profile are visible to other DesiChal users. Private messages are only visible to the conversation participants. We use third-party infrastructure (Base44) to host and operate the platform securely.

6. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Portability — request a copy of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@desichal.com. You can also delete your account directly in the app under your Profile settings.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your personal data, posts, messages, and activity is permanently removed within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

DesiChal is not intended for users under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 17. If you believe an underage user has registered, please contact us immediately.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data using industry-standard security practices. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
